American Airlines to increase flights to Jamaica for winter season
American Airlines is expanding its presence in Jamaica with more flights from Boscobel, St Mary and Kingston to Miami, starting December 18, for the winter tourist season.
The airline will have two daily flights to the Ian Fleming International Airport in St Mary, and four daily flights from the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston to the popular North American city, which boasts a large Jamaican population.
“As the largest US airline in Jamaica, we are thrilled to continue expanding our presence with even more service to Kingston and Ocho Rios,” said Jose A Frieg, vice president of International and Inflight Dining Operations, in a press release today.
“We have had significant growth in our Jamaican operations for this summer, and we look forward to even more flying in the winter, highlighting American’s almost 50-year commitment to Jamaica’s travel industry and our local partners.”
With the additional flights, American says it will lead the way with more service than any other carrier to Jamaica.
This summer, the airline is operating 15 peak daily flights from three destinations to Jamaica, representing a 17 per cent growth in capacity for the season.
And this winter, American will offer more than 20 peak daily departures from Jamaica to seven destinations in the US, including Boston, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, New York, Miami, Chicago ,and Philadelphia.
This represents 20 per cent growth in capacity compared to the previous year.
