The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) is to spend approximately $3.29 billion on safety and security at public health facilities across the region.

The authority has signed three-year contracts, which took effect on July 1, with Shalk Electronic Security Limited, Marksman Limited, and Guardsman Limited.

Shalk Electronic Security Limited has been awarded a contract valued at $1,179,166,576.00 to provide security services to healthcare facilities in the Liguanea region in St Andrew.

Marksman Limited will provide services to the Spanish Town Hospital, Linstead Public Hospital, and the St Catherine Health Department under a contract valued at $1,515,170,883.21.

Guardsman Limited has been contracted to serve the Princess Margaret Hospital and the St Thomas Health Department, at a value of $603,976,109.50 million.

Board Chairman, SERHA, Wentworth Charles, noted that the security of public health institutions remains a top priority.

“We are committed to creating a secure environment that supports the delivery of quality healthcare services. These new contracts reflect that priority and the importance of safeguarding our frontline workers and patients,” he said.

The security services to be provided under these agreements will include manned guarding by trained personnel, compliance with all applicable statutory obligations, and adherence to performance standards specified by SERHA.

This forms part of SERHA’s broader strategy to strengthen operational resilience and enhance service delivery throughout its network of hospitals and health departments.
