Cabean Badal is carving a niche in wellness décor with Boho Botanics Jamaica, a brand built on sustainability, creativity and respect for nature. Known for naturally fragranced botanical arrangements, the brand reflects a philosophy shaped by heritage, environmental mindfulness and artistic expression.

The inspiration behind the Boho Botanics grew organically from Badal’s lifelong connection to plants. “My passion for plants and experience in their care eventually evolved into a creative pursuit of botanical design,” Badal said. What began as a hobby of custom arrangements took a decisive turn when she was commissioned to landscape a wedding venue. The response, she recalled, gave her the courage to launch the business.

Her entrepreneurial outlook is deeply influenced by her upbringing in Portland as the daughter of a farmer. Raised in a self-sufficient household, she learned resourcefulness and stewardship early. “Childhood was simple, but never lacking. My parents always found ways to provide from what was available. From that, I learned that the resources that sustain us must be protected for future benefit,” she said.

Those lessons remain central. “I have always aimed to live with minimal environmental impact, using available materials creatively. Those values now guide my work, creating beauty in harmony with nature, using eco-friendly materials and minimising waste,” Badal said.

The name Boho Botanics reflects both aesthetic and philosophy. Drawing from the bohemian ethos — an eclectic blend of cultural, artistic and spiritual influences—the brand celebrates individuality and intentional living. “My design aesthetic embodies a mindful, non-conformist approach to both living and art. It is about celebrating individual expression while minimising environmental impact,” she said.

PERSONAL PIECES

This ethos is evident in the brand’s use of diverse textures, colours and botanicals to produce pieces that feel personal, organic and meaningful.

Boho Botanics places strong emphasis on natural ingredients, sourcing materials as sustainably as possible. “I forage for local wild botanicals, dry fresh flowers myself, and buy from local plant nurseries,” Badal explained. For elements not readily available in Jamaica, she selectively imports specialty dried and preserved plants. Local sourcing, she noted, is vital. “Being able to source materials locally is critical, not just for pricing, but for ensuring a stable supply chain,” she said.

Unlike mass-produced wellness brands, Boho Botanics focuses on bespoke designs tailored to individual clients. “Before I start, we discuss where the piece will be placed, preferred colours, and whether the client wants scented or unscented botanicals,” Badal explained. “That allows me to create something that truly reflects their personality.”

Operating in the wellness sector presents challenges, particularly for small, sustainability-driven brands. Badal acknowledges the demands of maintaining quality, sourcing responsibly and building awareness, but insists on growth aligned with purpose rather than compromise.

In the next five to 10 years, she envisions Boho Botanics evolving into a fully sustainable ecosystem. “My dream is to use exclusively local plants by growing our own botanicals,” she said. “That would allow us to honour the earth while creating a truly sustainable supply chain.”

Beyond products, she hopes the brand will become a creative hub — hosting workshops that merge floral artistry, wellness and mindful living.

At its core, Boho Botanics Jamaica is about transformation — of materials, mindsets and lifestyles. “My goal is to breathe new life into materials that would otherwise be discarded,” Badal said. “I want to show that beauty can be found everywhere, and inspire others to live more mindfully and sustainably.”
