Four-year-old girl shot dead in Manchester attack identified

The four-year-old girl shot dead during an attack that left her father injured in Manchester on Sunday afternoon has been identified by the police.

Her name was Saniyah O'Brien.

Reports are that about 5:30 pm, Saniyah and her father were travelling in a Black Toyota Voxy motor vehicle in a area known as Land Settlement in Williamsfield when they were ambushed by armed men.

The gunmen reportedly opened fire on the vehicle, hitting both occupants.

They were rushed to the Mandeville Regional Hospital for treatment, where Saniyah was pronounced shortly after arrival.

Her father, who is a car dealer, was admitted.

His condition has not yet been disclosed.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

As at February 7, the Manchester police division recorded four murders.
