Delrose and Learie's Anniversary
WESTERN BUREAU:
Jamaicans overseas will tell you there is no place like home. However, words are not enough for those born on the soil; they usually bring those words to reality.
Recently, Delrose Miller Brown, vice-president, product delivery, at MasterCard Worldwide, and husband Learie Brown, a private investigator for the Toronto Housing Authority, returned to the place they tied the knot 25 years ago - Montego Bay - to celebrate their anniversary with family members and close friends.
The two hosted an all-white party at The Wexford Hotel, and their guests weren't allowed to bring gifts.
"Instead of taking gifts, we asked them to bring a gift for a child at the Blossom Gardens Children's Home," Miller Brown told Today.
The couple returns to Jamaica annually.
"So we are aware of the struggles some of the homes face, so instead of taking gifts that we don't necessarily need, we asked for those less fortunate," she added.
Over 60 persons turned out for the informal event to savour good times and share with the couple while enjoying a delightful buffet prepared by the Montego Bay resort.
Special guest and friend of the couple, Nikki Burt, who has played the role of back-up singer for the likes of Buju Banton, Damian Marley and Julian Marley serenaded the couple.
