Former Kingston Cricket Club President Alva Anderson has died.

Anderson, who is understood to have suffered a brief illness, passed on Thursday morning.

Anderson also served as a director of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA), and Sabina Park Holdings, and was also a member of the local organising committee for the 2007 ICC World Cup.

JCA President Wilford 'Billy' Heaven is saddened by Anderson's death.

"The JCA mourns the passing of Alva Anderson," he said. "As President of the JCA, I extend sincere condolences to his wife and other family members.

"He made a sterling contribution to the development of cricket in Jamaica, and for that, we are grateful.

"In the language of cricket, he played a magnificent innings. May his soul rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon him."

Anderson also represented Jamaica in football, boxing, and field hockey. He also later served as a president of the Jamaica Hockey Association and a member of the Jamaica Boxing Board.
