Jamaica’s team of Briana Williams, Natasha Morrison, Remona Burchell, and Shericka Jackson advanced to the final of the Women’s 4x100m relay at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The Jamaicans clocked a season’s best (SB) time of 42.15 seconds to finish third in semifinal one and secured their place in Thursday’s final.
The race was won by Great Britain in a national record time of 41.55s, while the United States finished second in a season’s best 41.90s.
Williams said she was delighted to be out on the track for the first time at the Games and she is pleased that they are now in the final.
"Coming out on the track, I felt so excited and I felt the energy and the stadium is so beautiful, I am so glad to be out here for the first time,” Williams said.
“The execution was well. I felt good in the blocks, I felt that I did my part and my teammates got the baton around safely to advance to the final.”
Jackson echoed those sentiments.
"It was a pretty good execution from us. We went out there to qualify, pass the baton around safely, we did ,and now we are in the final, so we are just grateful,” said Jackson.
