Fast-rising sprint hurdler Rasheed Broadbell has become the latest athlete to leave the MVP Track Club, after severing ties with the University of Technology-based outfit.

Broadbell's move follows the exit of World 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who left the club in 2019 and the expected departure of double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson Herah, who has signalled her intention to leave long-time coach Stephen Francis.

Broadbell, one of the island's most promising sprint hurdlers, sent a letter to the club earlier this week, informing of his decision to leave.

Broadbell, 21, was the fourth-ranked Jamaican in the 110m hurdles event last season with a personal best of 13.10 seconds, which is also listed as number seven on World Athletics' Top List. The former St Jago High School student-athlete has been a member of the club for the past two years.

Expectations around the sprint hurdler is high, after he was catapulted to the number one spot in the world in the early stages of last season and was seen as a favourite to make Jamaica's team to the Tokyo Olympic Games.

He, however, did not compete at the National Senior Championships due to injury.

According to reliable sources, Broadbell's father Maurice, who is a part of his management team, is disgusted with the way his son has been treated, especially where his medical issues are concerned and was figural in his decision to quit the club.

The Gleaner has also been reliable informed that Broadbell will now conditioned by Fraser-Pryce's new coach, Reynaldo Walcott.
