#Carifta2022 | Hodge performance outshines Jamaicans dominance over 200 metres
The British Virgin Islands' Adaejah Hodge claimed her third gold medal of the 49th Carifta Games inside the National Stadium earlier today.
Hodge ran away with the girls' 200 metres, beating the field by almost a second, clocking 23.42 into a big negative wind.
Jamaica's Sabrina Dockery and Theianna Lee Terrelonge, who finished second and third, were spectators, clocking 24.25 and 24.64.
The victory for Hodge, the eventual Austin Sealy awardee, had earlier won the under-17 long jump and the 100-metres.
Hodges victory marked the only 200 race to go to another Caribbean country, with the hosts going on to capture the next three titles on offer.
In the Under-20 girls, Jamaica's Brianna Lyston sped to victory in a time of 23.16, finishing ahead of Shaniqua Bascombe of Trinidad and Tobago, who got silver in 24.18. Kaylia Kelly of Jamaica, despite an injury in the final metres of the race, grabbed the final podium spot in 24.33.
Jamaica's Bryan Levell captured the Under-20 Boys' title in 21.18, finishing ahead of his teammate Sandrey Davison, whose silver was earned 21.35. Nazzio John of Grenada was third in 21.70.
The Under-17 Boys' title was won by Jamaica's Rickoy Hunter in 22.13. Keo Davis of St Vincent and the Grenadines was second in 22.19, while Jamaica's Marcinho Rose was third in 22.26.
