CG2022 | Thompson-Herah mines Jamaica’s first gold

Multiple Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah has added Commonwealth gold in the Women’s 100m to her long list of accolades.

Thompson-Herah, who finished third at the World Championships in the 100, sped to 10.95 seconds to win the gold slightly, ahead of Caribbean competitor, Julien Alfred of St. Lucia. Alfred crossed the tape in 11.01 seconds, while England’s Darryl Neita,11.07, rounded out the podium-bound ladies.

Jamaica’s second representative in the final, Natalliah Whyte, clocked 11.32 for eighth.
