GLASGOW, Scotland (CMC):

REGGAE BOY Kemar Roofe, who has struggled for fitness this season, has suffered another calf injury setback following his brief return to action with Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

The 29-year-old United Kingdom-born forward, who joined Rangers on a four-year deal in 2020 and regularly hit the target in the last campaign, made his first outings of the season as a substitute in recent matches against Dundee and Livingston.

“He picked up another injury so we won’t have him for a couple of weeks,” said manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

“It is the same area, but a different injury.”

The Dutchman added, “First, it is very frustrating for Kemar. He has had a history of injuries since he came to this club, not only with me, but also previously.

“So for me that is the most frustrating thing for Kemar himself because he works hard, he is trying every time to come back and whenever he is back, it is always a setback within a couple of weeks.”

Roofe, a former Leeds United and Anderlecht ace, who scored 17 goals in 41 games for Rangers last season was omitted from the club’s Champions League (CL) squad this season because of injury.

Rangers suffered a fifth consecutive CL defeat on Wednesday, going down 3-0 at Napoli.
