American Sha'Carri Richardson bested world 200m champion Shericka Jackson in the 100m at the Diamond League season opener in Doha, Qatar today.

Richardson clocked a meet record time of 10.76 seconds for victory, which is now the fastest time in the world this year.

Jackson finished second in 10.85, while former world 200m champion Dina Asher Smith was third in 10.95.

Jackson previously had the fastest time in the world two weeks ago at the Velocity Fest meet in Kingston.

Richardson ensured the meet record remained in American hands breaking the late Tori Bowie's, 10.80 mark which she set in 2016. Bowie died at the age of 32 on Wednesday.
