#BudaQuest | Anderson fails to make 800m semis
When Botswana’s Tshepiso Masalela ran 1:45.31 minutes to finish fourth in heat four of the World Athletics Championships 800-metre preliminary round inside the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary, it meant disaster for Jamaica’s Navasky Anderson.
Anderson, running in heat two earlier, had clocked 1:45.81 for fifth place, and had been waiting in the Q Room for word on whether that would have been quick enough to be one of three non-automatic qualifiers to the semi-finals.
Anderson, the national record holder, was the only Jamaican representative in the men’s 800.
