Jamaica's Danielle Williams clatters into the final hurdle on her way to a third-place finish in the first round of the 100-metre hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Despite clattering into the final hurdle during her World Athletics Championships first-round 100-metre hurdles heat, Danielle Williams was part of a successful trio of Jamaicans through to the semifinals at the National Athletics Centre today.

Williams, 12.51 seconds, was third in heat three, behind the United States’ Kendra Harrison, who impressed with a blistering 12.24, and the Bahamas’ Devynne Chalrton, who ran a national record 12.44. Williams' time was her best this season despite the hiccup.

There were no bobbles for World Athletics Championships debutant, Ackera Nugent, who won heat one in 12.60, the same time as the United States’ Masai Russell.

Jamaica’s other entrant, Megan Tapper, was also comfortably through, clocking 12.51, to finish second behind Nigerian world record holder, Tobi Amusan, 12.48.

The event’s other heavy hitters, Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, 12.50, the Netherland’s Nadine Visser, 12.68, and the United States’ Nia Ali, 12.55, are also through to the semi-finals.

The 100-metre semi-finals take place at 1:40 p.m. tomorrow.
