Respect the informer
The Editor, Sir:
Being an informer in Jamaica is to put your own life at risk, and to give up your own freedom to leave your community family and friends behind for justice. How brave they are to do this without the insurance of seeing another day themselves! Why do you think the dons are trying to put a stop to them?
We need to pay a lot of respect to informers and find ways to make it easy for them to give information, and effectively act on it without putting them at risk. Jamaica has become a living hell. Behind-closed-doors informers are the ones who are making a difference as the criminals are being pinpointed and hopefully dealt with by the law.
Let's not kid ourselves. We have a serious crime problem that needs urgent attention. We must fight against the destruction of our country by the cancer of crime. "Nuff respect" to the informer.
