Mayor Mckenzie's double standard
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Mayor Desmond McKenzie has been resolute in ensuring that building laws of the KSAC are so meticulously followed that he has come to be known in some quarters as the 'Sheriff'.
Imagine my surprise a few days ago when I came upon an upstairs building built on the sidewalk in the mayor's division, near the corner of Darling Street and Spanish Town Road.
I would invite you, Mr Editor, to send a photographer to take a picture of this substantial upstairs building so that all Jamaica may see the double standards to which we have been subjected as a nation by this administration.
This is not a building on some back street of the city, but it is in the busy commercial district.
Unless this building is demolished within the next seven days, like others have under the watchful direction of the mayor, supported by his ever-supportive town clerk and city engineer, I will regard it as further evidence of the corruption that has overtaken us as a nation, and will become convinced that the time has come to seek my island home elsewhere.
Remember that this is also in the constituency of the Honourable Bruce Golding, prime minister of Jamaica.
I am, etc.,
Vincent Douglas
