Give Dudus a chance

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? —John 1:46

DO NOT kill Dudus! Please allow him to get a fair trial, and if convicted, serve his time and get a chance to reform himself. I don't know this young man; never met anyone related or close to him, not even affiliated to the Jamaica Labour Party. I only met him through the media at the first mention of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips.

However, on Thursday, May 12, a few days before the security forces went into Tivoli, I sat at my desk discussing topical issues when I envisioned in my spirit that he is just another person who deserves a second chance. I then said to my co-worker, "ah feel sorry fah im".

You see, during his 'Robin Hood' reign it would be so surprising to know how many benefited from his affluence - no wonder they are afraid of him. It is my view that he is very influential to the point where so many brazen young men from every nook and cranny in Jamaica answered the call to fight on his behalf.

He can be changed

From a biblical point of view, Can you imagine Christopher Coke committing his life to God and persuading all his followers to do the same - trade the guns for the Bible? Could you imagine Dudus assisting the process to make our beautiful Jamaica crime free? After all, some of our great men of the Bible were not so innocent. David engineered and consented to Uriah's killing; Moses murdered an Egyptian, yet God used him to deliver the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Saul consented to Stephen being stoned to death, and as if that was not enough, started out on his way to Damascus to annihilate the Christian community. Before he could carry out this act, Jesus Christ slapped him off his ass on the Damascus Road and converted him to Paul (Acts 9). Now St Paul was the first and possibly the most influential theologian in Christendom.

I truly believe Dudus through Jesus Christ can be transformed from a 'Saul to a Paul'. God can use him for His glory - give him a chance!

I am, etc.,
