Too much corruption

I love Jamaica and its people. I own a house in Kingston and hope to retire there soon. But the legal and political climate are really scary.

I applaud the anti-gang legislation but, even if it is passed, it seems doomed to failure. As one person said, the problems are deep-rooted ... the unemployment, in part due to exploitation of both Jamaicans and its resources need to be addressed and stopped.

The abysmal political climate with so much corruption and the corruption and failure of the legal/judicial system compound the problem. It is sad that much of the populace are as frightened by the police as by the criminals ... unfortunately sometimes one and the same.

You need an honest, well-equipped police force that can attract honest policemen (or women). This mess with the gangs is just a symptom of a sick system. I pray to God every night that Jamaicans will wake up and take back their beautiful country before it disintegrates into anarchy.

I applaud all those who are truly in favour of this, but so many just give lip service and then either ignore the problems or become part of the problems.
