What next for Jamaica?
The Editor, Sir:
Over the past few weeks, the country has gone through mayhem, disarmament, post-mortems, funerals and extradition. We have learned some lessons as a people of 'Jamaica, land we love'.
First, the cause of the mayhem that leads to the disarmament. During the disarmament there were injuries and deaths on both sides, namely, the security forces and civilians that led to the post-mortems. Funerals are either being planned or have taken place as I write this letter. The extradition has taken place also. What next for Jamaica?
We have known the cause of all the above as a people. Therefore, it is time to start anew. Let's be honest with ourselves, and stop blaming each other at this time. The nation needs healing, and healing cannot be achieved while so-called Christians are blaming Christians and politicians blaming politicians.
As a nation, we are at a cross-roads. We must grasp this opportunity to rescue Jamaica as the land we love .
I am, etc.,
