'Fools' in doubt
The Editor, Sir:
I am writing in response to an article titled: 'Brady paid off Manatt, says JLP' in yesterday's publication of The Gleaner. Am I to understand from this article that the JLP had originally entered into an agreement with Mr Brady's law firm to contract Manatt, Phelps & Phillips to deal with the extradition matter. The JLP had decided to break its contract with Brady/Manatt. However, the severing of ties with Manatt attracted a US$15,000 fee which, we are told, Mr Brady decided to pay out of his pocket, instead of requiring the JLP to pay it.
Same mistake
Wow! what fools our elected officials think we are, or maybe we are fools to have elected them to represent us as the Government of Jamaica.
It would appear to me that they are making the same mistake they had originally made, by denying that they had an agreement with Manatt. I always thought that errors are made and we learn from them and try not to repeat them.
It is now left up to the Jamaican people to make the right choices next election and prove to the government that we are not the fools they think we are.
I am, etc.,
Sonia Ellis
