Disaster waiting to happen

Published:Wednesday | July 21, 2010 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I note the article in The Gleaner that Mike Henry's constituency has eaten up the lion's share of the road maintenance fund. However, I wish to again bring to the notice of Mr Henry and Stephen Shaw of the National Works Agency the very very bad condition of a road in North Clarendon, namely, the Guinea Corn to Corner Shop road.

I have travelled widely in Jamaica and this is about the worst in the country. It is a disaster waiting to happen. There are deep trenches across sections of it, deep potholes, dilapidated bridges with columns and railings broken off with potholes on some of them.

On Saturday, July 17, I travelled on it in a Rav4 to Johns Hall. The driver commented that he would not drive his vehicle on that road again. I am imploring Mr Shaw and Mr Henry to take a drive along that road and take the local MP, Mr Broderick, with them.

I am, etc.,
