UWI re-evaluating NewsTalk's offerings

The full menu of programmes and the entire management structure at NewsTalk 93 FM are now being evaluated after the University of the West Indies (UWI) acquired full control of the radio station.
The UWI has refrained from saying when the evaluation would be completed, but that it would "make further announcements regarding the changes to be implemented".
Yesterday, the UWI announced that it had acquired the Breakfast Club's 49 per cent stake in Universal Media Company, the parent body for NewsTalk 93 FM.
The UWI also announced that it would retain the broadcasting licence.
This comes four years after the UWI's Finance and General Purposes Committee approved an agreement with the Breakfast Club to develop Radio Mona into a profitable venture.
Under this agreement, the UWI and the Breakfast Club established Universal Media Company in December 2005.
In keeping with the Television and Sound Broadcasting Regu-lations, Radio Mona's broadcasting licence was transferred to Universal Media and the station renamed NewsTalk 93 FM.
