Cassava electricity?

Moses, a teacher at the Glowell Preparatory School in Portmore, St Catherine, was pleased with the invention.
The students used the cassava tuber to generate 00.8 volts of electricity.
"It would take about 1.6 volts of energy to light a bulb. The children have done that at school. This is a smaller project but we are still very pleased, " Moses said.
Galvanized copper wire, chlorine and salt are other components of the device.
"I really like this. It means these budding scientists are showing the flexibility of cassava," said Winston Wright of the Portmore Citizens Advisory Committee.
