Peter Reid formerly of Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) is the new senior vice-president and chief operating officer at Victoria Mutual Building Society.
Financial Gleaner understands that Reid assumed his post on September 1.
Reid replaced Hugh Reid who resigned from the post in April. Reid served as a senior officer at BNS for 10 years and as one of two district vice-presidents, providing sales and service strategic leadership for half the branch network.
He also spent four years at CitiBank NA where he specialised in debt-equity swaps and receivable-based financing.
Reid has held a number of directorships on the boards of a wide range of enterprises including: GraceKennedy Currency Trading Services Limited; Harmonisation Limited; National Water Commis-sion; Dehring, Bunting & Golding Limited; DB&G Merchant Bank and DB&G Services Limited; Guardian Life Limited; Guardian Asset Management Jamaica Limited and West Indies Alliance Insurance Company Limited.
Jason Corrigan, commercial director for Digicel Jamaica, is pleased to announce Brian Bennett-Easy as the acting head of business.
In this role, Brian will have overall responsibility for providing day-to-day leadership to the Digicel Business Jamaica team (Business Sales East, West and Central, Government, Business Services and Government & Corporate Relations) to ensure that "we deliver on and exceed revenue and market targets".
Brian joined Digicel in June 2005 in the capacity of business solutions manager. Prior to joining the organisation, Brian was employed to Lascelles DeMercado Group Limited for 13 years, serving in various capacities, including being the IT project manager for the automotive, brands and distribution divisions.
He holds a post-graduate diploma & certificate in business administration from Edinburgh Business School (Herriot Watt University); a BSc in management studies from the University of the West Indies and a diploma in computer science from Utech.
New managers at First Global
First Global Bank has announced two new appointments to its senior management staff, promoting Lakishma Thomas to branch manager for the Mandeville branch, while appointing Noel Barker as branch manager for its Liguanea operation.
President of First Global Bank, Maureen Hayden-Cater, herself recently appointed in the post, made the announcements on Wednesday in the print media.
Laskishma first joined the First Global Bank family in 2009 as assistant manager for credit, having responsibility for the management of all lending activities of the Mandeville branch.
Since March of this year, she started to act as manager of the branch, and has now been appointed in the post.
Prior to joining First Global, Lakishma worked with First Caribbean Bank in Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and the British Virgin Island in various capacities spanning corporate banking, credit risk management, retail banking and wealth management.
In the meantime, Barker who brings over 27 years of experience in banking joined First Global after holding various supervisory positions with National Commercial Bank (NCB). Prior to joining First Global, he was branch manager for NCB's Matilda's Corner branch for five years.
Barker holds an MBA in banking and finance from the Manchester Business School, and a BSc in management studies and accounting from the University of the West Indies, Mona.
