CSA re-elects Urriola, Stephenson
The Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) unanimously re-elected Carlos Urriola Tam of Panama and Grantley Stephenson, chief executive officer of Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL), for a second consecutive term, as president and vice-president respectively.
Elections took place on October 11, the first day of the CSA's 40th annual general meeting held at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa in Montego Bay. The conference was hosted by the Shipping Association of Jamaica.
The leadership of three of the constituent groups of the CSA were also returned to serve one more year on the association's General Council. Group A - Michael Bernard, director, Jamaica Freight and Shipping Company Limited; Group B - David Jean-Marie, financial controller, Barbados Port Incorporated; and Group C - Cyril Seyjagat, line manager, CMA CGM Caribbean. Group A includes ship agents and private stevedores; Group B includes port and terminal operators; and, Group C includes ship owners and operators.
The recently instituted Group D, comprising non-vessel operators and ocean transport intermediaries, met and elected its first chairman, John Abisch who will be the group's representative on the General Council.
Approximately 320 participants from several Caribbean and Latin American countries attended the conference.
