... Miss T's Kitchen?

"Restaurant Week last year was excellent! We did extremely, extremely well and we're definitely looking forward to it this year," remarked Anna-Kay Tomlinson, owner of Miss T's Kitchen in Ocho Rios.

"It was very good, it went pretty fine," veteran chef of 25 years, Staford Anderson, concurred.

With such anticipation, patrons can expect a real treat at Miss T's this year.

Anderson, who has been at the kitchen for a year and a half, said the dishes that excited patrons last year were mainly the seafood dishes, including curried shrimp, grilled lobster, and especially the shrimp rundown.

The shrimp rundown is off the menu this year, though. But an upgrade is available. It's the Swaggerific, a curried lobster tail stuffed with ackee (no salt fish) laced with Jamaican herbs and spices, with a little reduction of coconut cream sauce.

It is expected to be an even bigger hit than the shrimp rundown was last year. And it will form the basis of what is being prompted as the Jamaican experience where the menu will be uniquely Jamaican.

"This year, we are looking forward to an even better Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week," Anderson said.

Anderson, who hails from Gayle in St Mary, has been in love with cooking from his school days at Mount Angus Primary in that parish, hence his reason for becoming a chef.

When at home, Anderson still loves to be in the kitchen preparing meals for his family.

"I love to cook curried lobster, fried chicken, curried goat - which is my speciality - and also country-style chicken," he said.
