Take it off and keep it off is what the Nestlé brand is promoting as their latest Fitness cereal hits the market.

Now available on supermarket shelves for more than two weeks, The Jamaica Pegasus hotel last Friday saw nutritionists, associates and company executives come out for the official launch of the Fitness Honey Almond Cereal.

According to business co-ordinator for Nestlé breakfast cereals in Jamaica, David McFarlane, the availability of the product is just in time for the start of the Christmas season. He noted that this is the season when persons tend to indulge in unhealthy food choices.

"We are really promoting good health so while people may indulge, we are saying to them, have something healthy too," said McFarlane.

A tasty, healthy option

Nicole Mejia, marketing manager for Nestle cereals in the Caribbean, noted in a press release that the Fitness Honey Almonds Cereal is a tasty option for staying in shape, as it is made of whole grain combined with honey and portions of almonds.

Recognised as one of the leading nutrition and wellness companies, Nestlé's Fitness brand is reported to be one of the leading brands among adults, with promising growth patterns in Jamaica.

The new Nestlé Fitness Honey and Almonds Cereal is made from light, crunchy flakes of whole wheat, rice and corn - sweetened with a touch of honey and mixed with delicious almonds. Though tasty, it only contains 112 calories per serving (only five per cent of the recommended daily calorie intake). It has, however, 2.4 grams of fibre in addition to important minerals and vitamins such as vitamin C, folic acid, iron and calcium, which are vital for good health. It joins Fitness and Fitness & Fruits as the family of Nestlé cereals - the only ones made of whole grain - and reformulated with the addition of more antioxidants.
