Wisynco signs big Coke deal

Wisynco last night signed an agreement making the local operation an exclusive franchise holder for the entire range of products under the Coca-Cola brand, while also allowing for increased local production.

"From 2006 to today, Wisynco was a distributor on a non-exclusive basis. Now, they form part of a special group we call our bottling partners. So they will have full franchise rights for the territory of Jamaica for bottling, distributing not only the products they have today, but the entire Coca-Cola portfolio of beverages worldwide," said Robert Mercade, general manager at Coca-Cola with responsibility for Venezuela and the Caribbean region.

In addition to local production, the new arrangement between the companies will give Wisynco access to special funding and more technical expertise in building out the business.
