There's a new restaurant in town that's doing things bigger and better than many of its predecessors.

Giant double doors reveal a cascading waterfall at the new Royal Palace Restaurant located at 119 Old Hope Road.

It's not just another Chinese restaurant -it's two restaurants in one.

Owner Sarah Chung is no stranger to owning and running a restaurant, with over a decade experience in Jamaica. She told Food she decided to incorporate two cuisines to give customers a choice. And a fine choice they have! If you are dining in the Chinese section and need something from the Japanese menu, no problem.

Bright yellow table cloths cover enough tables to seat 40 customers in the Chinese restaurant with a private dining room that can accommodate 20 persons, perfect for a birthday or corporate celebration.

Special feature

The Japanese section upstairs is decorated in dark hues of burgundy and brown decorative wood. It boasts a sushi bar, can seat 60 diners and has two Teppanyaki tables. These tables not only give diners the opportunity to see their meals prepared right in front of them, but also an opportunity to enjoy the artistry usually associated with teppanyaki table presentations. One of the tables can accommodate a party of 10 and the other a party of 12.

But regardless of how the meal is prepared, customers will be very satisfied, as Royal Palace does everything different. Its malah chicken has a special sauce that puts it a step above the rest and a must-have is the special Royal Palace spare ribs.

The restaurant has been opened since April, but the grand opening is set for December 19. From December 19 until January 31, 201l, customers will enjoy a 10 per cent discount on all meals and, for take out, if you order five you get one free. With secure spacious parking there is no reason not to treat your palate to a royal feast.
