Attorney-at-law K.D. Knight, who is representing the Opposition People's National Party (PNP) at the Manatt commission of enquiry, has given his seal of approval to the proposals put forward for its operation.

"Although the process of selection (of the commissioners) was wrong, I cannot complain about the end result," Knight told The Gleaner yesterday after the preliminary sitting of the commission.

The outspoken Knight expressed confidence in the three commissioners, Emil George, Anthony Irons and Donald Scharschmidt, while describing them as persons he has known for years.

"I expect them to be bold and fearless, operating in the interest of the public, making the necessary recommendations as they see fit," Knight said.

His comments came after the PNP issued a statement outlining the questions it wants answered by the commission.

According to the PNP, it wants the commission to determine who notified the Christopher 'Dudus' Coke that an extradition request had been made for his surrender to the United States authorities.

The party also wants the commission to determine what was the objective of hiring the US law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips and who paid for its services.

"All Jamaica would be less than satisfied should the enquiry fail to provide satisfactory answers to those questions," the PNP argued.
