Errol Miller, LIME's regional vice president for corporate communications, take on a new role as vice president of government and corporate affairs.

Miller, whose operates out of the Jamaican office in Kingston will maintain his role as chief corporate spokesman until a replacement is identified for the communications slot.

He will continue working out of the Carlton Crescent office.

"Mr Miller will be LIME's primary liaison with governments—both at the central and local levels—and other major stakeholders," said a statement from the company Thursday.

Miller has also been named chairman of the telecom's foundation, and designated head of LIME's "philanthropic portfolio", responsible for "driving the company's thrust" to provide free Internet to schools as well as community projects Caribbean-wide.

LIME referred to the new posting as a "transition".

"As EK approaches retirement age, it is important that we plan for succession and continuity. However, we cannot afford to lose his expertise, his knowledge and his enormous influence," said Chris Dehring, LIME Caribbean's chief marketing officer and chairman of LIME Jamaica.

Miller, whose new role begins "early next year", will continue reporting to Dehring.

Ian Galt joins LIME

Ian Galt, whose experience in the telecoms industry spans a generation, has been appointed managing director for managed services at LIME Caribbean.

Galt, a Trinidadian with 31 years of experience in the sector, was recruited from Fujitsu ICL.

He will have a strategic role to drive efficiencies in management, which will see him working closely with LIME's network of managers for enterprise, corporate a government team, managing directors, general managers, and their in-country teams.

He will do so from Barbados.

Galt himself has held positions in sales and executive management.

Prior to joining LIME, he was executive vice president in charge of Fujitsu ICL's Caribbean operations and held additional responsibility for the enterprise and telco markets for the Caribbean and Central American Portfolio.

Jamaica Public Service Company Limited says Dan Theoc has been appointed to the position of Chief Financial Officer at the utility, effective December 13, 2010.

  • TCL names new board

Trinidad Cement Limited has announced a new board of directors, whose appointment took effect December 3.

They are: Dr Rollin Clifton Bertrand, Andy Bhajan, Eutrice Carrington, Bevon Francis, Carlos Hee Houng, Jeffrey McFarlane, Aleem Mohammed Leonard Nurse, Luis Miguel Cantœ Pinto, Brian Young.

Young is the chairman of Caribbean Cement Company Limited, which is one of Trinidad Cement's largest assets.

  • Scotia management appointments

The Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica Limited has advised that Michael Thompson will be appointed senior vice president, in charge of corporate and commercial banking, effective January 1, 2011.

Sister operation, Scotia DBG Investments Limited has named Berisford Grey as senior vice president for origination and Capital Markets, effective December 1, 2010.
