The inaugural Ocho Rios Curry Festival was held recently at the Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios, St Ann, and attracted a large crowd of curry lovers. While the number of vendors were not as many as some persons expected, the quality of the offerings made up for the limited quantity.

With chefs from Wyndham Kingston hotel (Stacy-Ann Carnegie, Ricardo Spence, Devon Scott, Viona Martin); Sunset Jamaica Grande (Claudia Parkinson, Michael Sang, Jason Smith, Michael Gray); Runaway Bay Heart Hotel (Executive Chef Dennis McIntosh, Omar HoSang, Theron Thomas) and Baywatch Bar and Grill (Conroy James), it was more like quality over quantity.

The curried menu had items such as yam balls with curried chicken in the middle, salt fish rundung, ackee, ice cream, cake, jackfruit, bread, and breadfruit with raisins.

Of course, there were the various curried meats - goat, chicken, pork, beef and seafood such as fish, lobster, shrimp, and conch.

Tropical Vibes, promoters of the show, was pleased with the outcome and thanked the many sponsors who supported the venture.
