Hay-Webster served with dual-citizenship court papers
Member of Parliament (MP) for South Central St Catherine, Sharon Hay-Webster, was yesterday served with court papers in the dual-citizenship case brought against her by Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate, Devon McDaniel.
Hay-Webster, who confirmed that "someone breached security" at her gated residence to serve the documents, said her next move will be to meet with her attorneys to discuss how the case will be handled.
"My case is clear and distinctively different and they (Jamaicans) will see as the matter goes to court," she told The Gleaner without giving details.
The South Central St Catherine MP also promised to issue a statement shortly.
McDaniel, who lost to Hay-Webster in the 2007 general election, filed an election petition in the Supreme Court last month seeking to have her removed from Parliament on the grounds that she held dual citizenship at the time she was nominated.
He is claiming that the two-term member of parliament is the holder of a United States passport.
