Alleged cop rapists seek release

Attorney-at-law Peter Champagnie will be filing a writ today in the Corporate Resident Magistrate's Court for the immediate release of three of the five policemen who have been implicated in the gang rape of an exotic dancer.

Champagnie said the policemen have been in custody since February 17 and so far, have not been charged or taken before the court.

Legal representation has not yet been settled for the other two policemen.

'Dog Paw' heads to court ... again

Another attempt will be made today to have reputed gang leader Christopher Linton, more popularly known as 'Dog Paw', make his first court appearance.

Linton, 24, was transported to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court in a convoy of heavily armed policemen yesterday, but did not see a judge.

Court officials did not indicate why, but sources told The Gleaner that the case file was not ready. It is expected to be completed today.
