Love

Published:Sunday | February 27, 2011 | 12:00 AM

Saying I love you doesn't mean a lot

And not saying it doesn't mean I do not

For a thousand times I've told you so

And now I want you to know

Love is a thing that proves itself

A thousand times a day

It's in the little things you do

And the little things you say

Love is a thing called sacrifice

A tonic when you're blue

Love is the joy of doing things

Shared between me and you.

Earthquake

History of January 14, 1907 Kingston Jamaica

Ripping the earth, 1000 dead

Today, never mind disasters

Comforts, that is why we have a National Works Agency

God is greater and more well-equipped than any

fatalities

They learnt that earthquakes don't kill people

Buildings do

There is something in a name

Christ's Church

Will always stand

Withstand any earthquake.

Longing

Whisper thoughts of desire

Hurt my soul

A moment, a day, a year

Will my time ever come?

A captivating smile captivates me

Dreams of her but will she ever know

Does she see me?

My feelings grow, then fall

Is time running into time?

Or will the bell take its toll

Never allowing me to...

To woo her pleasant smile to blaze my faltering heart

My heart to love deeply

This is my longing

Longing.

Forever

Everything I am

Everything I'll be

Just because you're a part of me

Today we take these solemn vows

To never resist and turn each other down

Through the storm, through the rain

Until our soul has left this earthly terrain

On this awesome day

We've made our first step

To love each other in this old familiar way

We promise to love from this day forward until forever

We'll always cherish and care for each other from now until forever.

Head gone

The queerest thoughts now

impact me

Is this the way my head will

be?

A frontal lobe din, that's

always on...

These oddball thoughts

that I brood upon

They now beat against my brain like angry flies

that come, attracted by the stench of these weird mental cries

It pains a lot

this torturous state

It amps up and grows, it

doesn't dissipate

And while I could not see before

how a mind can go missing...

I see many things much clearer now

that, my thoughts have turned to twisting...

Walk of life

The walk of this journey I place my love

The stones of the way, I grasp my balance

I bare the gifts of the father who made me

My young, my one, my resting place

Many are the grasses that hide my path

And the clouds that mislead me

That I tempt myself to give in

But as I see the fruits of my labour

The walk of life I love.

Bleach to reach

So yuh think yuh reach?

Sorry, you have just taken two steps backward

Your skin you have bleached

And you don't practise what you preach

You should have listened to what your teachers have tried to teach

February is the month for black history

But for you our history will always be a mystery

To seek attention, you damage your pigmentation

You lighten your complexion without concern for the repercussion

Your once thick skin is now thin like that of a vampire

You have to avoid the sun, indoors you must stay

All because of your ignorant belief and poor taste

From your shallow mind comes your colourless face

Because you've turned your back on your black race.

My Jamaica

My Jamaica

I just love my Jamaica

A land of wood and water

Where the grass is green and the sun shines bright

And the people unite

For out of many nations

We are one generation

I am proud to be a Jamaican

The pride of Jamaica is to keep its culture alive

and teach the children our heritage

Our national pledge and our national song

Our national anthem is a prayer to our God

We have seven national heroes who fought for our rights

Six of them are men

And the other one is a woman Our national flag is green, black and gold

Our national bird is the Doctor Bird

Our national tree is the Blue Mahoe

Our national flower is the Lignum Vitae

Our national dish is ackee and saltfish

Our fruits are sweet and our food is the best, add this all up it's a taste of heaven

How could I leave this beautiful country

The place of my birth, and dust even its dirt off my feet

Saying I'm running from crime when God is always on line?

I can dial him anytime

You may say we have the most churches per square mile, yet still we are surrounded by crime

Though our problem is crime to God will I cry

He's the God of mankind

But I will never abandon this place of my birth, I'll love Jamaica to the earth

So don't look at our problems and judge us by that, for Jamaica is blessed

We are one of a kind

Though our island Jamaica is just a dot on the map

We stand above all the rest who claim to stand at the top

We are one of the best for our country is blessed

Our country is blessed

Jamaica is blessed.

Love

Love takes you to places you can imagine

It is not only in a book or soap opera but in a world all by itself

Love moves mountains

Show yourself and a little one love

Your child, a friend, a stranger

in simple ways

Love can be an enemy, the devil doesn't like

So fight, stand up for love

Love loves all, hates all evil.
