Roti Time
The grounds of the Police Officers' Club was alive with excitement from a predominantly Indian throng on Sunday, February 27, as the annual Roti Festival got into high gear. Sponsors' branding dotted the perimeter of the Hope Road landmark, while the little ones monopolised the bounce houses under the watchful eyes of their parents and guardians.
Some of the elders were patiently led into the venue by their loyal caregivers; one vendor with colourful bottles of soapy water kept blowing bubbles all afternoon - the tiny tots loved it, the adults were annoyed. Fab Five kept the music pumping, while one of their members led the soca train on the dance floor. But the activity at the food stands did not stop until the last morsel of the wide variety of roti and equally numerous curried dishes disappeared.
