Police sources have confirmed that an armoured vehicle was held up and its occupants robbed in the vicinity of Dunrobin Avenue, St Andrew, yesterday. The robbery took place between 10:30 and 11 o'clock in the morning.
Details of the robbery, including the company to which the vehicle belonged, were not available up to press time. However, it was reported that the robbers made off with more than $12 million. This is the second such robbery since the start of the year.
Last month, gunmen commandeered a motor car off Waltham Park Road in St Andrew. The courier, with some over $50 million aboard, was being operated by a security firm at the time it was robbed.
A .38 firearm was also taken from one of the guards.
