A meeting between officials of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and representatives of the media ended in a stalemate over action to be taken against Everald Warmington for his behaviour towards members of the local press.

The meeting, which lasted for an hour and a half, had JLP chairman Mike Henry, deputy treasurer Daryl Vaz, and spokesperson Andrew Holness in attendance.

Among those is attendance were head of the Media Association Jamaica Limited Gary Allen; and President of the Press Association of Jamaica Jenni Campbell.

During the meeting, Henry said the party had not drafted a code of conduct as yet and therefore discussion would have to take place over what action would be taken against Warmington.

The representatives of the media, however, pressed the JLP officials to have Warmington apologise and disqualified from running for a seat in Parliament as the representative for South West St Catherine.

Holness admitted that the party had taken into account the public outcry against Warmington's behaviour, and said the issue would be taken to a meeting of the party's central executive later that night.

Henry also said the party would issue a response to the public today.

Members of the media took issue with Warmington after he told CVM's Kerlyn Brown to "go to hell" when he was asked, during a live television interview, to respond to a question about his reasons for remaining a member of the House of Representatives since 2007, despite knowing his pledge of allegiance to a foreign country had made him an unfit candidate.
