THREE MEN implicated in last month's $60-million heist were yesterday charged with robbery, illegal possession of firearm, and conspiracy.
The police have identified the men as Andrae Malcolm, who is employed to a Kingston-based security company; Oral Chin of a Linstead address in St Catherine; and Corrian Collins of Arnett Gardens, St Andrew.
Reports are that on Thursday, February 3, a Suzuki Liana motor car, with three security guards, was transporting money for distribution to various banks in the Corporate Area.
While travelling along East Road, off Hagley Park Road, St Andrew, a blue Honda motor car rammed into the side of the Suzuki Liana.
According to a police report, the guards got out of their vehicle to assess the damage when they were surprised by three men, who alighted from the Honda motor car brandishing guns.
One of the guards was disarmed of his .38 Smith & Wesson revolver, serial number BHJ3266, and 12 rounds of ammunition were taken by the gunmen, who escaped in the Suzuki Liana loaded with the money.
The car was later recovered on Greenwich Street in Wilton Gardens, St Andrew, popularly known as Rema, without the money.
"The car is still with the forensic experts," a member of the Criminal Investigation Branch disclosed yesterday.
The Gleaner has since learnt that the lawmen are now searching for three suspects, who are believed to be residents of Arnett Gardens, in connection with the incident.
