'Dudus' request logbook is no longer missing
A book reported missing during the cross-examination of Ministry of Justice consultant Marcia Beverley at the Manatt-Dudus commission of enquiry has been located.
In a release yesterday, the justice ministry said the book was forwarded to the secretariat of the commission yesterday.
"The book, which is used for the recording confidential documents, was misplaced in a file that was secured in a cabinet in the office of the person with responsibility for these matters," the ministry said in its release.
"When Hurricane Tomas became a threat to Jamaica in October 2010, all documents were secured on behalf of the desk officer while she was out of office and the book was inadvertently misplaced when it was being locked away for safe keeping."
The book featured during Beverley's testimony as it is said to contain the signature of the bearer who signed for the extradition request for Christopher 'Dudus' Coke to be taken to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
During cross-examination, attorney for the DPP's office, Lord Anthony Gifford, suggested that it was Deputy DPP Jeremy Taylor and not an accompanying police officer who signed for the extradition documents.
