ALBERT GORDON, the acting president of the National Water Commission (NWC), has been appointed to fill the post permanently effective April 1.

Minister of Water and Housing Dr Horace Chang announced the appointment yesterday almost three months after he indicated that Gordon would act in the post vacated by long-serving president E.G. Hunter.

Gordon is an engineer and management consultant who, according to Dr Chang, "has extensive training and experience in public utilities, particularly in the field of water and electricity".

He is also trained in the regulation of water utilities, including policy and legal framework, service standards and tariffs.

Gordon has also worked as a private consultant for clients in Jamaica, the Caribbean and Africa on projects in the electricity, water and sewerage sectors.
