NCB awards auto dealers

Usually when there are this many auto dealers in one place, it's a car show.
But this time it was the executives and not the mechanic marvels that had the spotlight shining on them as National Commercial Bank (NCB) hosted its annual Auto Dealers Awards on Tuesday at the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel.
From the black carpet with white lane markings down the middle, to the race driver attire of the hostesses, this was all about cars. Even the waiters were brought in on the action, dressed in black-and-white chequered shirts, reminiscent of pit crews in Formula One racing.
On paper, it was an awards event, but it certainly didn't turn out as your run-of-the-mill ceremony. No long speeches with cliché commendations on 'a job well done' and all that stuff. DJ Narity's selections and the lounge-style setting of the hotel's Venetian Suite kept the event chic and devoid of boring rhetoric.
Rootz Underground 'revved' up the crowd up even more with their pulsating beats and thought-provoking lyrics. And, also on a charged-up musical note, 'Rising Stars' alumni Cameal Davis and Adina Myrie both delivering some high-octane performances.
Toyota Jamaica took the major awards in the new car categories, including the coveted New Car Dealer of the Year 2009-2010, while Crichton Automotive topped the used car dealers category.
