SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine:

MICHAEL JONES of the Spanish Town Infirmary danced up a storm recently while singing Bob Marley's Three Little Birds.

"A so man fi sing and dance when music lick yuh bone. Mi feel good fi di merriment here today. God bless dem (The Kiwanians)," Jones said, to the delight of those who cared for him.

The Kiwanis clubs of 23 West recently treated 135 residents of the infirmary to pedicure, manicure and new hairstyles. They also received scrumptious meals.

"It is International Kiwanis one-day project. Therefore, it does not matter what happen before, you have to do a project today. In addition to this, members have painted the Gregory Park Basic School in Portmore," Anthony Williams, lieutenant governor of 23 West, told The Gleaner.

Meanwhile, personnel at the institution said it was a meaningful gesture by the Kiwanians.

"It is a great deed by this group of volunteers to entertain and care for the residents. It is a continued effort, as earlier they donated a washing machine," chairman of the St Catherine Parish Council, Dr Andrew Wheatley, said.

The infirmary, located on Monk Street in Spanish Town, falls under the aegis of the St Catherine Parish Council's Poor Relief Department.
