Lalor to run Hope Gardens, zoo

Robert Lalor will take over the running of the Nature Preservation Foundation, a job that gives him management oversight of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Hope and Hope Zoo.
The foundation has a 49-year lease from the Jamaican Government to operate the adjoining facilities on the Hope Estate in Kingston, both seen as national treasures.
Nature Preservation's chairman, Leslie Chung, says Lalor brings 20 years of business experience to the job in Jamaica and the United Kingdom, having been educated in both countries.
Lalor holds a BSC in management studies from the University of the West Indies and an MBA from London School of Economics. He has worked with beverage maker Wisynco Group, Insurance Company of the West Indies Limited, and has been engaged in management consultancy and business education.
As CEO of Nature Preservation, he will have direct responsibility for the redevelopment of the Hope Estate which comprises primarily Hope Gardens and Hope Zoo, said Chung.
"We anticipate a transformational campaign and transition of these entities to world-class standards over the short to medium term," the chairman said.
