Visiting cleric hopes to clear air on Islam
He is here to talk about Jesus, suicide bombings, and other acts of terrorism. United Kingdom-based cleric, Sheikh Abdur Raheem Green, is hoping that after his message to Jamaicans this weekend, the perception some persons have of Muslims will change.
The sheikh will be guest speaker at a two-day convention which begins today at the Masjid As-Salaam mosque on Red Hills Road, St Andrew.
Part of his message will focus on the death of Osama bin Laden.
"With the death of bin Laden, hopefully, we can start to put an unfortunate chapter behind us and to look at things in a fresh way," he told The Gleaner shortly after his arrival on Thursday.
"It is important to clear this misconception that people have of Islam and really to make it clear that these two things are not compatible at all," he said.
Another part of his message will involve Jesus Christ, who Muslims consider a prophet.
