WESTERN BUREAU:

Four of the six persons detained in connection with the May 3rd kidnapping of a toddler from Mount Alvernia Preparatory in Montego Bay, St James, will have their bail applications heard on May 26.

The four, 27-year-old Jenise Regisford; Jonathan Mitchell, 23; Trevon Tomlinson, 22; and a 16-year-old, have been remanded until their next appearance in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.

They are answering charges of kidnapping, conspiracy to kidnap and conspiracy to extort.

When the matter was called up in court yesterday, it was disclosed that the defendants' lawyers had not been served with the necessary statements pertaining to the case.

The case was adjourned until May 26 to allow the lawyers to take instructions from their clients in order to make bail applications. Additionally, Mitchell is to retain legal representation by the next court date.

Attorney-at-law Martyn Thomas is representing Regisford; Tomlinson has retained the services of Adrian Dayes, and Albert Morgan is counsel for the teenager.
