Scotia to close small branch

Published:Friday | May 27, 2011 | 12:00 AM

Scotiabank Jamaica is to close one of its small branch operations, called Victoria & Blake, located at 29 Victoria Avenue, in Kingston, on July 15.

"The branch closure came out of an ongoing assessment of Scotiabank's operations as the group seeks to continuously improve efficiencies," said the bank, in a release on Tuesday.

"Customers of Victoria & Blake will not see any immediate changes in the service they currently experience."

In the meantime, though, Scotiabank said that customers will be notified by way of mail how their accounts will be handled.

They will have the option of choosing the most convenient branch to which their accounts will be transferred, but the bank anticipates that most will be sent to the Scotia Centre branch at the corner of Duke Street and Port Royal streets.

The closure of the Victoria & Blake branch will drop the number of Scotiabank branches to 39.
