The Bog Walk gorge in St Catherine will not be closed next Monday as was previously announced by the National Works Agency (NWA).

Transport and Works Minister Mike Henry, who stepped in and shelved the planned closure, said he will announce the new date when the corridor will be closed.

The NWA announced last Friday that the Bog Walk gorge, the main corridor leading to the north coast, would be closed next Monday to allow the National Water Commission to complete pipe-laying work.

However, Henry, in a statement issued on the weekend, said this has been put on hold because the planned resumption of train service between Linstead and Spanish Town will not be in place.

To facilitate the closure, NWA has been repairing sections of the alternative route through Barry in rural St Andrew.
