Five receive JIEP environmental awards

Issues affecting the development and sustainable use of Jamaica's natural resources and strategies for achieving balance between national development and environmental protection took centre stage at the Jamaica Institute of Environmental Professionals (JIEP) fifth Conference on the Environment, which was titled, 'Balancing National Development and Environmental Protection', from June 6-8 at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
The highlight of the conference was the honouring of five distinguished environmental professionals at the president's reception and 10th Anniversary Awards Ceremony on June 6.
Awards were presented as follows: Eleanor Jones: Outstanding Environmental Professional Award; Diana McCauley: Environmental Ripple Award; Dr Barry Wade: Lifetime Award, Sandals Resorts International: Corporate Award, Dr Margaret Jones-Williams: Peter Reeson Award for Service to the JIEP.

The conference saw presentations on a range of related topics.
