Portia wants IMF test results
Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller says the Government owes the people of Jamaica an explanation about the country's standing in relation to two quarterly performance tests under the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
A media release issued by the People's National Party (PNP) yesterday said Simpson Miller described as unacceptable that six months after the December test and three months following the March test, the country is still uncertain of the outcome of the IMF's initial reviews for those periods.
"The PNP President said that in light of reports that the country has failed to meet the performance criteria for the tests and has therefore failed to draw down on some US$253 million in funding over the past six months, the continuing silence of the Government on the matter is unacceptable," the release said.
